Poorhouse Mission

Poorhouse Productions is a private project recording studio specializing in projects not normally commercially viable to produce. Typically, this is a combination of lack of percieved commercial appeal for the music combined with the lack of personal funds on behalf of the artists to record at a commercial studio.

The Poorhouse goal is to make record of music normally lost due to the failure of commercial success or inability of the artist to self-subsidize a project. Poorhouse Productions operates as both a traditional, hourly-rate recording studio as well as a music project investment and development company. A select few projects are taken each year on an artist development basis. In exchange for part ownership in the project an artist records here for little or no out-of-pocket expense. Our fees are then recovered through future recording sales or through a label buyout arragement.

We beleive all music should strive to communicate the artist's message while sounding as good as possible and with none or at least very few studio-time related sonic compromises. This mindset, often the approach of major label superstars, is rarely realized by aspiring musicians without substantial personal means. Poorhouse Productions offers artists an option to see the proper amount of time and care applied to their first studio recordings.

At Poorhouse Productions the artistry and learning process of recording and making good sounding works is paramount. If an artist records here, it is because we like their music and believe we will do a decent job of recording and representing it, successfully communicating the message and the sound of the music consistent with the artists' intentions.
