Rates
For Remote Recording we price our services according
to the amount of gear required and the number of days of
involvement. The client receives archives on DVD of all
tracking, engineer's session notes and documentation on
microphone placement and tracking signal chains, and a
rough "all faders at 0" mix.
For Popular Music Production our rate is $600 per
song. The pricing includes tracking, mixing, and archives
on DVD of the tracking and mix sessions plus a final ready-
for-mastering 24-bit mix, a 16-bit reference mix, and MP3
encodings in high and low resolution. This rate includes
an producer if desired.
For Mixing our rate is $200 per song. This includes
the mix, archives on DVD of the mix session data plus a final
ready-for-mastering 24-bit mix, a 16-bit reference mix, and MP3
encodings in high and low resolution.
Our pricing is based on customer approval. This means, simply,
if you don't like our work, you don't pay. It's how we would
want to be treated on our own projects, so we extend the same
to our customers. Sound too good to be true? It's not. We
truly do work "on approval".
If our rates seem a little high, it's because we factor in enough time to
do our work without compromise. Our belief is if it is worth
doing, it is worth doing right. We simply do not compromise
a project on account of the time required to complete it correctly.
Often that means our effective hourly rate is actually rather low.
This policy covers the technical aspects of
our work, and does not cover situations beyond our control such
as poor tuning at a live performance or disatisfaction with the
arrangement of a recorded song. But for recording and mixing projects,
it is the ultimate insurance you will like what we do. If you
don't, you owe nothing!
If you prefer time-based billing, our standard hourly rate for
recording, overdub, voiceover,
editing or mixing is $50 per hour.
Studio time may be purchased by the hour or in pre-paid
8-hour blocks at a discount of 25 percent. Larger blocks
of time are available on a per project negotiated rate.
This fee includes use
of all equipment listed on this web site and one engineer
ready to work as a first or second.
Offline editing, mixing, backups, archives and delivery
preparations are priced at the hourly studio rate for labor
plus destination media, either CD-Rs or DVD-RAM disks. We
purchase our media in bulk and charge cost.
We accept American Express, Discover, MasterCard and Visa
for payments, as well as Net/30 terms for established
accounts with a PO. All equipment rental contracts are
due at equipment pickup.
Many Poorhouse projects will use a deferred payment
negotiated on a per project basis. In exchange for part
ownership in the project, the artist will be allocated
whatever studio time necessary to properly complete the
project.
